Burroway, Imaginative Writing: The Elements of Craft | Pearson
I liked how Burroway separated her book into crafy. I am starting taking classes in creative writing and I would like to know your experience using this book. I also didn’t always agree or understand why Burroway chose the creative work she did as samples of what she was addressing in each chapter, but that might just be due to the fact I’m stuck in my ways.

We had to break into smaller groups and do the critiques at home. Pick a scene from your journal. Write a two-page story about a journey. No trivia janst quizzes yet. The organization wasn’t useful for a class that covers each genre separately, and I found myself having to supplement the readings with a lot of handouts.
Used availability for Janet Burroway’s Imaginative Writing. I really recommend this book for new writers such as myself.

This item is out of print and has been replaced janeet Imaginative Writing, 4th Edition. Sometimes it’s a little hard to see the relevance to the theme of chapter, but as someone who mostly stays away from modern fiction this was a lovely sampling.

This is a large and detailed book on how to engage in creative writing. This was a pretty good creative writing crsft in that it helped start some good discussions. Being a business major and never writing creatively, this book allowed me to learn new techniques for all sorts of genres, one chapter at a time.
I’ve also only used this textbook once to teach one class. Darrin Doyle, Goodreads author. What does it have in it’s pockets? Both King and Goldberg are incredibly accessible, and there is something about getting advice straight from a master’s mouth regarding craft that no textbook can ever manage. Anyway, the chapters are helpful and the exercise suggestions are unique and I’d like to give them a try sometime when I’m not bogged down with homework.
